Toiling

I cant get my head round the dress at the moment and im not totally convinced by it so i decided to move on this week and started to toile my sequin trousers. I used a basic skinny jean non stretch block as i want them to be fairly slim fitting but the fabric has no stretch so i had to add a little to be able to get them on but still slim to the body. The took me three attempts but because the fabric is £140 a metre i can not afford to not have them toiled perfectly first! I think im there now they fit the mannequin and the body well and im going to keep them quite simple as the fabric is really elegant i think to many extra details will over fuss them and cheapen them! I was going to use gold zips but alison said to just use invisible zips the same colour as the trousers so i have kept them simple slim fitting, invisible zip in the side and a simple straight waistband! I cut them out of the fabric (which was hard to cut into knowing how much it cost) and i didnt have enough for the whole trouser or to repeat the fabric so il have to get more. I dont think i anticipated how long these trousers would take as i have to unpick the whole seam allowance of sequins and secure so the whole lot dont unravel. I think im going to have to have the trousers as an ongoing piece throughout the collection.
